Have you ever noticed how the gluten free pasta sticks together when you boil it?  In particular, the spaghetti seems to come out more in clumps of 5 - 10 pieces of spaghetti?

Dr. Fenster in her book Wheat Free Recipes & Menus may have the answer.

She explains that gluten free pasta is starchier than regular pasta because of the lower protein content.  This, in turn, causes the stickiness of gluten free pasta.

The solution - use more water.  She recommends using one quart water for each pound of pasta and keeping the water at a strong boil so that the bubbles in the water move the pasta around.

Buttered Noodles

I know, this seems so simple and yet it so good and easy.

Every kid loves this!

  • Bi-Aglut Penne or Macaroni Pasta
  • butter (or Earth Balance for CF)
  • high quality olive oil
  • garlic salt

Lunch or dinner can still be as simple as some cooked noodles.  Use gluten free noodles that taste good.  We highly recommend  Bi-Aglut Penne or Macaroni Pasta. My Gluten Free Pantry Shopping List.  Our second choice is Quinoa Ancient Harvest.

Simply cook noodles, add a spoonful of butter, drizzle with olive oil, flavor with a little garlic salt and you have a meal most kids cannot refuse.

Serve with some fresh tomatoes and fruit.

See the recipe for Basil Pesto Noodles to top off the meal for the adult palette or braver kids.
